Godly Leadership Qualities (Acronym)

Leading by example

1 Timothy 4:12 KJV 12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.,

Establishing a sure foundation

James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Accepting responsibility

Ec 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Disciplining your body, soul, and spirit

1 Corinthians 9:27 KJV 27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Eternal perspective on life

2 Corinthians 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Relying upon the leading of the Holy Spirit

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Sacrificing for the benefit of others

1Jo 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Holiness is a lifestyle

2Ti 3:10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

Integrity in all things

2Co 8:21 Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.

Prioritizing the important

Mark 10:29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, 30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. 31 But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

Hearing God’s Voice

1. God still speaks today John 10:1-5

A failure to hear the signal does not mean it’s not transmitting

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Ps 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Isa 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

1Co 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

2. How does God speak?

With an audible voice 1Ki 19:12 After the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

Spirit to spirit Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

To our thoughts Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

By the desires of the heart Ps 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

By the witness of the Spirit Ro 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Through his word 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Through his messengers Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for edifying of the body of Christ:

Through the gifts of the Spirit 1Co 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

 9  To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

10  To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

Through the circumstances of life Ro 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Apostle Rodes’s Mexico trip

Through our conscience Ro 9:1  I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,

3. Why some Cannot Hear God’s voice

Must use it or Lose it Heb 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Must pursue with whole heart Jer 29:12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Spiritual senses are dull Heb 5:11 …we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.

4. Why some misunderstand God’s voice

They listen to desires of an evil heart Jer 7:23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it be well unto you.

24 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart,

They don’t know God’s principles Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

They lack integrity Lu 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Pride is involved (desire to be seen) Ps 25:9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

5. God speaking through the gift of prophecy

There is a difference between the office of a prophet and the gift of prophecy

1Co 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

5  I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

1Co 14:29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.

30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.

31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

Cautions on: parking lot prophecies-corrective prophecies-setting timeframes-baby/children predictions-marriage

Encourage: Accountability-Combining prophecy with the other gifts-

Prophecies that failed: Was it interpreted correctly? Intercession and decisions by people can change things,

Examples of “failed” biblical prophecies: Jonah to Nineveh, Isaiah to Hezekiah,

6. How to hear his voice accurately

Plead the Blood over your body, soul, and spirit Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

Relax in God’s presence Ps 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Worship the Lord 2Ki 3:14 And Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor see thee.

15 But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him. 16 And he said, Thus saith the LORD……..

Ask God to speak Lu 11:10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

7. How to judge the voices you hear

If you feel that God is speaking a message to you but you are not really sure if it is from God here are some good questions to ask yourself about the message.

Is it scriptural? 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Is it pure? Tit 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

Does it bring peace? Isa 55:12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Is there a witness of the Spirit? 1Jo 5:6 ¶ This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

Does it align with godly council? Pr 11:14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

Look for confirmation? Mt 18:16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

Is Jesus being exalted? Re 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
