God’s will

How can I know God’s will for my Life?

Jer 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Col 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

1. Remain true to the spiritual interpretation of the Word of God

Ps 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

2Pe 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

2Co 13:1 This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.

2. Pray for God to open and close doors

1Co 16:9 For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.

Ac 16:6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, 7 After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. 8 And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas. 9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. 10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

3. Pray for your desires to be pure

Ps 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Ps 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

Pr 16:9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

4. Seek council from the wise

Pr 12:5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

Pr 19:20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

How to Humble Yourself

How to Humble Yourself

Strongs: to bow the knee, mild, gentle, modesty, subject, needy, lowly, poor

Dictionary: Marked by meekness and modesty in attitude or behavior, unpretentious, non-assertive,

1Pe 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Jas 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Lu 14:11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Mt 18:4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Pr 29:23 A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

1. Recognize your need for help

Mt 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Mr 2:17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Re 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing…..

2. Resist evil and submit to that which is good

Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Ex 8:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

3. Renounce the hidden things of dishonesty

2Co 4:2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

Mt 23:14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

4. Accept where God places you

Pr 25:6 Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men: 7 For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.

Ro 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

5. Afflict your soul with fasting

Ps 35:13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

Ezr 8:21 Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.

Closing: Humility is something you wear (an Attitude of the mind)

1Pe 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

The Manifestations of Pride

The Manifestations of Pride

The latter part of 1Pe 5:5 tells us ….for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Two of the most misunderstood words in the bible are found in verse 5. The first word is Grace and the second word is Humility. Grace is not a license to sin nor is it God overlooking our shortcomings. I believe the Lord is wanting to release a greater measure of Grace upon his people! Grace is the power of God’s Spirit bringing us into the fullness of what he has for us. Even though Grace is a free gift and available to all, there are certain conditions to receiving grace. Grace is only available to “The Humble”. Humility is misunderstood by many and for many religious people humility is demonstrated by certain religious expressions that are self demeaning and appear to give God “all the glory”. Much of this is false humility which is a form of pride because it is done to win the approval of man. Humility and Pride are simply right and wrong attitudes of the heart

Pr 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Pride is hard to to identify in oneself because it is many times covered by false humility and acts of religion. The best way to examine yourself is to look for the symptoms or manifestations of pride. Pride is a root sin and can only be dealt with by tracing the fruit back to the root and laying an ax to the root through true repentance and sorrow over our wrong attitudes. Following are 10 symptoms of pride that may manifest if someone has pride in their lives.

 1. The proud are easily offended

Pr 13:1 A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.

Mt 11:6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

 2. The proud are rebellious

1Sa 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

Isa 1:20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

 3. The proud must be in control

Ro 9:20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

4. The proud are focused on self

2Ti 3:1 This know also, in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves..

 5. The proud are contentious

Pr 13:10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

Pr 28:25 He thats of a proud heart stirs up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

6. The proud are critical and faultfinding

Mt 23:24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

Ga 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

7. The proud are concerned about their reputation

Mt 23:5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, 6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

Mt 23:28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Ec 7:16 Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?

8. The proud are lacking in dependency on the Lord

Ps 10:4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

Mt 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

9. The proud are lacking in gratitude

Ro 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

10. The proud rarely admit to being wrong

1Jo 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Pride and humility are an attitude of the soul

Lu 18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
